Search Engine Blacklist
No one wants to be blacklisted from anything but in the world of online businesses, some web design pages will land in this situation. With search engines, especially the larger ones such as Google.com and DogPile.com, you have to play by their rules. If your web design pages do not follow these rules, your entire ecommerce website could be blacklisted. Once this happens, getting back in good graces can be very difficult. Every search engine has slightly different guidelines so you need to read them all. With this, you will know exactly the way in which your web design pages should be created, as well as the proper internet marketing tools to use.
A common mistake with web design that becomes blacklisted is created what are known as, “Mirror Websites”. With this, you would have two websites, identical in content. The only difference is that the URLs to get to the sites are not the same. Initially, mirror websites were used for internet marketing as a way of improving visibility. However, search engine technology has become advanced in recent years, meaning they can now spot these sites. When they do, the websites are blacklisted. Another web design mistake that will get you blacklisted is by using doorway pages. These pages have little to no content although they have been optimized so they land in the top searches. The internet marketing concept behind doorway pages is that a person visiting the website would have to keep clicking through a number of pages to get to the real heart of the site. For the customer, the doorway pages have hidden navigation but to the search engine crawlers or spiders, they can be found. Instead of taking the risk of becoming blacklisted, we strongly recommend you choose internet marketing strategies considered acceptable by all search engines.
